Time for lunch and I’ve just realised I’ve forgotten to make the bread ... 🙄My emergency backup plan ... homemade cheese scones and a nice hot bowl of tomato soup. I love these scones, they only take 15 minutes to bake and taste amazing. To give them an extra kick, I add two teaspoons of wholegrain mustard ... so good !! 😋 Think I may forget to make bread tomorrow as well ... 🤫
Cooking up a purée with my perfectly imperfect apples and a handful of elderberries. That was the last of this years harvest and I’m a bit sad. But the aroma in the house more than makes up for it ... smells absolutely amazing. 😋😌
An exciting day ... our first tiny crop of elderberries. I've been advised not to eat the berries raw, as it can make you feel sick. So think I’ll pop them in a pie just to be on the safe side and cook them with some of our apples. Yum ... 😋
With all our winter logs finally stacked, we took a Sunday afternoon drive to Ballater. It was a breath taking trip, with beautiful autumnal colours everywhere. We even managed to find a wonderful coffee shop ... who could ask for anything more. 😃
Back to restocking our craft shop tonight and feeling a bit guilty for our afternoon off. I still need to photograph and list my latest batch of knitted hats and neck warmers, but I guess that can wait until morning. So for now, we have 1 little bat ready to go. He has a needle felt body, polymer clay wings and a cute little glow in the dark star. Goodnight all ... 😴
Someone put in a special request for a homemade coffee and walnut cake, which surprised me as he’s only 8 ... think he liked it ... 😅 Happy Birthday to my wonderful son, with loads of love Xxxx
I’m chuffed to bits ... my husband is usually the man with the hammer and nails around here (and I’m really grateful for all he does). But ... today, with hammer in hand I made a fence. It did take me all day, but I’m really happy with how it turned out. 😃😃😃 I only have another 20ft to go, I should have stayed in and made the bread ... 🤣
Thought I’d have a go at making our own mint tea. Spent two days dehydrating leaves and just about to try our first brew ... oh my goodness ... that’s good !!!! So much sweeter and more refreshing than anything I could buy in the shops. Even my husband loves it ... he’s not that keen on herbal teas. Tick that off as a great success and will definitely be making more next year. 😋👍
Our local path joining the Speyside Way ... sadly Heather Cottage has since been demolished. But it’s still a beautiful walk with some spectacular views ... 🙂
