Sitting under the silver birch and taking a moment to kick back. Just listening to the birds sing and watching the clouds drift gently by ... 😌
Good morning ...☀️ and a happy Saturday to you all. 👋
As it’s pouring with rain today, I’m contemplating some indoor projects.
But first, I had to check on my Aerogardens and spray my mushrooms.
I keep my mushroom trays in a cupboard, with the door cracked open (away from direct sunlight) and I’m always excited to see how they’re coming along.
As I opened the door, I was over the moon to discover this monster ... I have to say, it has some weight to it. One very happy son, was quick to suggest a creamy mushroom pasta for supper tonight. So I guess we have a plan ... 😃😋
If you’re in the Uk ... ‘Suttons’ do some wonderful mushroom kits if you want to have a go ...
With squeals of excitement (that brought the men running 😂... sorry), I discovered our first hydroponic tomatoes. I’m so happy ... they seemed to stall for a while there and I was afraid it would be a failed experiment. But no ... seemingly overnight tiny tomatoes are appearing on ALL the plants. I can’t stop grinning ... 🍅😃
I highly recommend Aerogardens, especially if you have no outside space to grow. They're compact and easily fit on a shelf or windowsil ... I've had great success growing with them and they're available to buy via Amazon, which makes life simple.
Can't wait for our first tomato salad ... :)
Well our local garden centre may be temporarily closed, but thanks to the lovely people at Victoriana Nursery Gardens, we still managed to get our bare root strawberry plants.
I was so grateful to receive this box of happiness ... Thank you so much ... 🙏🥰🌱
We finally got to say hello to the hundreds of daffodils we planted over the autumn / winter.
With all of the sad and heartbreaking news surrounding Covid-19 at the moment, they’re a very welcome sight.
I love seeing them from my kitchen window and they definitely brighten my day and give me hope ...

Nature never ceases to amaze me and I’m enjoying every moment of Spring this year ... 🥰 Hope you’re all keeping well ... Xx
Just a quick peek at my Sunday morning and feeding my family :
It was a slow start to our Sunday, but after my morning cup of tea, I decided to make some delicious fork biscuits ... I’ll pop my recipe below 😋🍪
Whilst they were baking, I had time to prune and top up my Aerogardens. They’re doing really well, lots of lovely fresh lettuce, basil and parsley. I’m just waiting on the cherry tomatoes ... 🌱
Quick check on my biscuits, and it’s one batch out, and the second batch in ... they smell so good, I wish I could share glorious baking aromas with you. 😊
Now it was time to think about lunch and I decided on a quick tomato soup ... it’s a firm family favourite and so yummy. 😍
After another quick check of my biscuits, I decided they need a little bit longer. I cook on an electric range, so the more I do the more temperature I lose ... 🤷♀️
Anyway, my biscuits are browning nicely and my soup is bubbling away on the stove, it’s time to think about making some bread for supper tonight ... phew, I’m longing to get outside , it’s a beautiful sunny day. 😅☀️
Finally my biscuits are done and I call my family in for lunch. Smiles all round, so it was definitely a morning well spent ... 😃 Happy Sunday to you all ......
8oz Margarine, 2 1/2 oz Caster Sugar creamed together. Add 10 oz of self raising flour, mix all ingredients together to form a dough. Divide and roll dough into small balls (I guess the size of a walnut). Lightly flour a fork and press the balls of dough flat. Bake until golden brown and firmish to the touch.
You can add any flavours you like to taste. I sometimes substitute some of the margarine for peanut butter, or some of the flour for hot chocolate power. Lemon rind is a good one to ... ENJOY ... 😉 X
Just to let you know that we are still open and taking orders ...
I will be doing a once weekly run to the post office on a Monday morning, until further notice, to keep movement to an absolute minimum.
All orders placed will be sent Royal Mail 1st Class.
I also wanted to thank you so much, for your patience, support and understanding during these difficult times.
Best wishes ... stay safe,
Sending love from our homestead,
A happy little sloth brooch to brighten your day. He certainly made me smile 😊
Sending you all love and positive vibes from Scotland ... take care and stay at home. Please ... Xx 🦥
One Mums attempt at cheering up her family ... 🤞
Home baked rustic rolls, wild boar sausages (locally raised) and fried red onions. 😋
I’m also on a daily mission to make sure that we’re not wasting food. So, after finding a tired lettuce and a small portion of cucumber lurking in my fridge, I set about making a really yummy soup. A few raised eyebrows and doubters to start with, but it actually tasted really good ... and made a nice main meal for six.
Who knows what I’ll find to make tomorrow, but we’re not throwing anything away ... !!! 🤷♀️
Some late night baking ... rolled out and ready for the oven. 🙃
Trying to get a head start on breakfast, by making up a batch of lemonade scones. Love that they only need 3 ingredients : cream, lemonade and self raising flour. They smell amazing and are super easy to make ... 😋
