Summer is in full swing, and the garden is full of life. Soaking up all the butterfly moments … 😊 🦋
#butterfly #butterflies #summer #scotland #homestead #garden #nature #wildlife #insects #countryside #countrylife #countryliving We decided to have a go at growing broad beans in the Polycrub. So far so good, and their flowers make a pretty addition to the garden … 😊
#homesteading #scotland #summer #garden Well, we finally got around to planting our asparagus bed this year. It’s been such a joy to watch it grow, it makes me smile every time I pop out to the Polycrub. One of the hardest things has been to resist the urge to pick it this year … from what I’ve researched, it’s best to leave it for a couple of years before harvesting. I’m being strong, but the temptation is real. 😬
Oh well … think I’m going to opt for a quiet Sunday afternoon and pull out some knitting. Hope you’re having a smashing weekend wherever you are … 👋 #garden #gardening #asparagus #vegetables #growyourown #growyourownfood #healthy #food #summer #homesteading #homestead #smallholding #countrylife #countryliving #rural #rurallife #happiness #peace #polycrub #scotland #outdoors #lifestyle #family #life #adventure #plant #plants #homesteadkitchen #june #greenhouse I love this time of year in the Highlands, it never gets completely dark. Our lighter evenings are such a blessing, and I really look forward to them … just sitting outside in the absolute quiet and watching the sky, is so peaceful …
It’s just gone midnight, here’s a quick peek of my view tonight … so pretty. 😌 #scotland #night #sky #midnight #nightsky #landscape #seasons #nature #outdoors #lifestyle #peaceful #peace #quiet #calm #dark #countryside #view #homestead #homesteading #rural #rurallife #smallholding #happiness #clouds #homesweethome #life #home #grateful #june #daylight Needing a light lunch, I popped out to the greenhouse to check on my radishes. After a quick look, I decided to pick some of them now and use the tender leaves in my salad. But I think I’ll wait for the others to develop a bit more, before harvesting the actual radish. Yummy and so versatile, I love that you can use the whole plant …
My kids love them too, as they grow so fast. You don’t have to wait to long to see results, harvest and then eat. Time for lunch I think … 😋🌱👍 #summer #harvest #healthyfood #food #salad #lunch #homesteading #homesteadkitchen #homestead #garden #gardening #greenhouse #radish #yummy #countrylife #countryliving #rural #rurallife #happiness #simpleliving #growyourown #outdoors #lifestyle #scotland #home #life #plants #fresh #green #plant It’s been so nice to potter around in the garden again and enjoy the warmth of the sun. With the lighter evenings, we’re able to work late and things are moving fast.
Our plants : leeks, lettuce, cabbage, tomatoes, peppers, green beans, broad beans, courgette, asparagus and pumpkins are all doing really well in the Polycrub … and the raised beds have been a godsend for my back. 🙏 We still have 3 or 4 more boxes to make for the Polycrub, and then we’ll move onto making boxes for the garden. Raised bed gardening is definitely my go to … 👍 🌱 Anyway, hope you’re having a good weekend too … 😊👋 #garden #gardening #fruit #vegetables #herbs #salad #homegrown #growyourown #growyourownfood #food #countrylife #countryliving #rural #rurallife #plant #plants #summer #scotland #homestead #homesteading #smallholding #adventure #home #life #outdoors #lifestyle #healthyfood #fresh #goodvibes #happy Our mint is doing great this year … we’ll use some to make fresh mint tea, and then dehydrate the rest to use over the winter. There may even be some homemade mint chocolate ice cream … just saying … Yum 😋
