I love cooking with fresh herbs from the garden. This year we split our mint ... which means we now have two lovely large pots. Transplanted our chives into a large raised bed and planted some gorgeous rosemary. To keep us going over the winter, I’m also setting up three aerogardens in the kitchen and hoping to grow basil and coriander indoors. Fingers crossed ... 🤞
Hello ... and sorry for the silence over the last few days. But I’ve been busy knitting up a storm ... just finished sewing up the last of these hats (2 have crocheted flowers, 2 without flowers) and I’m away to pop them in our shop ... if you’d like to take a peek, just follow my website link at the top of the page. Finished just in time really, as we have more snow forecast over the weekend. My kids are so excited ... it may be a snowman Saturday. Fingers crossed ... ☃️
Just rescued this beautiful singer sewing machine ... It’s in perfect working order ... just needs a polish and a bit of TLC. Think it dates back to the 1920’s ... can’t wait to use it ...
I found a delicious muffin recipe in Eve and Eivin Kilchers ‘Homestead Kitchen’ cookbook. So thought I’d have a baking day and give it a go. I love it !!! So simple and turns out great each time. I’ve made two batches now, the blueberry muffins shown in the book, then my own chocolate and cranberry muffins. Needless to say I have a very happy family ... 👏😃
We’ve finally started work on the back corner of our land. It literally hasn’t been touched in over 10 years. First on the list was to dig up a dead and rotten tree - getting dangerous as it was likely to blow over in the next high wind. Then came the exciting part, well for me anyway ... 😁 popping in three new trees. One pear, one cooking apple and a gorgeous himalayan birch. Planting trees just makes me happy ... 😃 We’re hoping to add more edible hedgerows and trees next year.
Well I don’t where it’s come from, but we’re having some beautiful October sunshine at the moment. I’m taking this opportunity to harvest the last of my mint and dehydrate it ... mint tea is definitely one of my favourites.
It’s a 10 mile trip to our local village store / post office, but I love the drive. Beautiful scenery and it gives me a chance to stop for a bit and gather my thoughts. Also a good excuse to pop into the coffee shop for a quick cup of tea ...
Just popped in to check on my soup. We’re all working hard outside today, so needed a meal I could throw together and leave. After a quick rummage through my fridge, settled on a chicken and vegetable soup. None of my soups are ever the same ... I just use whatever I have on hand. Thankfully most of the time they turn out Ok ... 😂 This one looks and smells good, so I’m happy with that. 😅 Going back outside now to plant some trees. One cooking apple and one pear ... hope you all have a good afternoon. 🤞😃
