Harvesting the first of our beautiful apples. At this time of year I like to keep a pot of apple purée in the fridge. It's delicious eaten hot or cold, the perfect snack, or serve as an accompaniment to porridge, yoghurt / rice pudding. So yummy, we all love it … 😋🍎

Our first ever pumpkin (grown in the Polycrub) is coming along beautifully and I couldn’t be more excited. We’ll definitely be growing more next year … such fun.
I see a yummy pie in our future …. 🥧😋 #pumpkin #pie #garden #gardening #homestead #homesteading #cooking #baking #homegrown #food #freshfood #healthyfood #yummy #homesteadkitchen #vegetables #countrylife #countryliving #rural #rurallife #selfsufficiency #plants #growyourown #growyourownfood #happy #outdoors #lifestyle #scotland Ok … so it’s official, my garden just makes me happy. Tonight’s harvest of marrow, french and broad beans will keep us fed well over the next few days. We’re planning to make a beautiful pasta sauce and some yummy soup … maybe even some muffins … can’t wait 😋

A lovely purple hue coating the landscape … it makes my heart sing. 🥰

With paint brushes in hand we all hit it hard and thankfully managed to get it coated before the rain arrived. So grateful to have a family that works together, I’ll never take that for granted.
For anyone that’s interested, we used a dark oak stain. We thought it might be fun to try some international snacks. After a quick discussion, we decided to go for America and Japan … definitely an interesting experience. Some of the snacks were really good, but others a bit of a shock … watch out for ‘Flamin Hot Cheetos’, you’ll need milk … 😅
All in all a great evening of family fun … and the winner … hands down ‘Reese’s Pieces’. Yum 😋. We’ve been dodging the rain for weeks now … so give us one dry day and it’s definitely time to get on with some of those outdoor repairs.
Our shed has fared really well, twenty years of all the weather Scotland can throw at it and it’s still standing. It just needs a little TLC … namely replacing some of the onduline along the ridge of the roof. Not a fun job, but definitely essential, especially in our climate. Hopefully we can finish today, as we’re forecasted more rain tomorrow. Fingers crossed …🤞😅 #scotland #homesteading #homestead #roof #repair #diy #shed #countrylife #countryliving #selfsufficientliving #selfsufficient #project #projects #rainy #summer |
